A TRIP THROUGH THE ALBUFERA NATURAL PARK (ANP)
The ANP is one of the best wintering areas in the Iberian Peninsula for waterfowls (Red-crested Pochard, Northern Shoveler, Common Shelduck, Great Cormorant, …), waders (Black-tailes Godwit, European Gold Plover, Sandeling, Sandpipers, …) and otther aquatic birds like Great Egret, Glossy ibis, Flamingo, Purple Swanp-Hen …
It is also a superb spot to watch prey birds like Western Marsh Harrier, Common Buzard or Booted Eagle.
Seabirds like the threatened Balearic Shearwater or more common like Northerm Gannet or Common Scoter can be observed from the coast in the Gulf of Valencia .
This day-long walking tour features hiking through marshes and rice fields, a visit to the park’s information and observation centre (with tower and hides) and the ringer centre, and it ends up at Cullera lighthouse, a privileged rocky high point from which sea birds can be observed at ease.
